When operating a non-profit organization, it can be very
beneficial to use text messages to communicate with your members. Of course,
there are always emails and other options, but texting gets right to the point of
what you need to convey. In addition, many people do not even regularly check
their inbox these days and phone calls can take up too much valuable time,
especially if there are hundreds or thousands of members.
There are several benefits to sending out short authorized
text messages to those members who have opted in to receive them. Some of the
benefits are:
·
Your message gets to the
intended party directly
·
Your message is received
immediately
·
You can send a brief message
with a link attached for more information
·
Your members can stay up to
date on events, schedules, and any emergencies that may arise
·
The majority of cell phone
owners check their messages right away after receiving them
Another plus is that the messages can all be sent out at once
or the text messages can be quarried to just one or a specific group of
members. For example, a text can be sent to members who wish to receive
information on current news and exclude those members who wish only to receive
texts about upcoming galas or events. Either way, using text messages to get
information to members of a non-profit immediately, is a win-win for everyone.
